Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed the shocking truth about her marriage to Will Smith.

During an exclusive interview with TODAY's Hoda Kotb, Jada announced that her and Smith have been separated for the last seven years although they are still legally married.

During her sit down, she made it known that her and Smith have been living separate since 2016 and have been putting on “an act” for the media revealing that two “weren’t ready” to announce the status of their marriage to the world.

It has been widely speculated for years that the two were in an “open marriage” or were even rumored to be “swingers” which both Jada and Smith have denied.

Surely, the speculations ramped up in July 2020 when on an episode of the “The Red Table Talk” Jada revealed that she was involved in an “entanglement” with artist August Alsina.

Although she received a lot of backlash, this still didn’t stop Smith from coming to Jada’s rescue during the 94th Academy Awards in 2022 where he slapped Chris Rock on live television for making G.I. Jane comments towards his wife.

Smith not only slapped the jokes out of the comedian but he also demanded Rock to “Keep my wife’s name out your mouth.”

Being proclaimed as Smith’s “wife,” was something Jada was unfamiliar with as she revealed she wasn’t expecting his bizarre reaction to the jokes made by Rock.

In addition, Jada also confessed some intimate details about her friendship with the deceased rapper Tupac. She revealed that Tupac is her “true soulmate” and also announced that the rapper once proposed to her while he was locked up in Rikers.

However, Jada is shedding some light to that incident in her new memoir “Worthy” and giving the public some insight into their family dynamic.

Although the public has been dragging Jada for her recent confessions, Smith has since taken a different approach to the now viral news.

The actor took to Instagram and seemingly responded by posting a video of him napping on a speedboat with the caption “Notifications Off”.

Although most people took his response as shade, Smith is actually very supportive of Jada and her new book.

In an email to the New York Times, Smith expressed that Jada’s revelations about their marriage in her memoir “woke him up.” He realized “she had lived a life more on the edge” and that “she is more resilient, clever and compassionate” than he’d understood.

“When you’ve been with someone for more than half your life, a sort of emotional blindness sets in,” Smith wrote. “And you can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties.”
