Dave Brown & Morris Chestnut Discuss Indie Night Film Festival

Dave Brown is doing big things and his longtime friend Morris Chestnut is supporting his every move.

Brown came up with the idea to start a weekly film festival 11 years ago and after more than a decade later — it’s still going strong.

Indie Night Film Festival aims at giving creatives and filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their work and network with other new and established professionals in media from all over the globe.

“You can’t just come to Hollywood and say ‘hey this is what I do make me a star, or give me an opportunity’” Brown said during an interview with the outlet. “You got to really be around those that make Hollywood you know turn.” That’s when the entrepreneur decided to bridge the gap and brought Indie Night Film Festival to life.

“I bring everybody in that are professional writers, you know directors, producers, and see talent and then give everybody the stepping level to get to the next level,” Brown continued.

Chestnut and Brown have been friends for years and the two even consider each other as “brothers.” The actor has been a longtime supporter of his friend and has even hosted several of Brown’s film festivals.

“When you talk about genuine people, it doesn’t get anymore genuine than Dave Brown,” Chestnut said. “The reputation he’s built up in the industry, the connections, the relationships, friendships … that’s what he’s bringing to Indie Night,” he continued. “Anybody you talk to from Hollywood, from the top level actors, top level producers, studio executives, agencies, managers, they have great things to say about Dave Brown.”

Indie Night Film Festival accepts submissions year round to screen in Hollywood at the TCL Chinese Theater and beginning June 2023 in Atlanta, GA at the Plaza Theater.
