Shakira, Peso Pluma, and Bad Bunny Are Among the Top Nominees for the 2023 MTV VMAs

The nominations for the 2023 MTV VMAs were announced on Aug. 8 and Latin artists are dominating in several categories.

Peso Pluma, Shakira, and Bad Bunny are among the top nominees this year.

In addition, the Artist of the Year category includes an all-women lineup featuring Beyoncé, Karol G, Shakira, Taylor Swift, Doja Cat, and Nicki Minaj.

The Colombian singers are also nominated for Best Collaboration and Best Latin for their duet “TQG.”

Selena Gomez and Nigerian artist Rema are gunning for Song of the Year for their hit collaboration “Calm Down Remix.”

Mexican superstar Peso Pluma, Kaliii, who is of Panamanian descent, and Ice Spice, who is Dominican-American, are all up for Best New Artist.

Demi Lovato is the only Latine artist nominated for Best Pop category for their “Swine” video.

Cardi B is also listed in the Best Hip-Hop category for her GloRilla collaboration on “Tomorrow 2” and Bad Bunny has been nominated twice for Best Latin.
