Tory Lanez has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the foot back in 2020.

According to The Associated Press, the hearing began Monday and the Canadian rapper had over 70 submitted letters of support, including a note from artist Iggy Azalea asking the judge for leniency "that was transformative, not life-destroying" when deciding his fate.

"I am not in support of throwing away anyone's life if we can give reasonable punishments that are rehabilitative instead. I support prison reform. Period," she later wrote on Twitter.

Although, the “Say It” singer claimed he was innocent, a jury found him guilty on three felony charges in December 2022: assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

“If I could change it, I would but I can’t,” he said in court Tuesday afternoon. “Everything I did that night, I take full responsibility,” he added. “I truly am just trying to be a better person.”

According to a member of the rapper’s legal team, they plan on filing appeals for both the sentence and conviction. His team will also reportedly file for bail when they make the sentence appeal.

“Sometimes good people do bad things,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford said. “Actions have consequences, and there are no winners in this case.”
