2023 Essence Girls United Disruptor Summit Returns to Atlanta with Star-Studded Lineup

The 2023 ESSENCE Girls United Disruptor Summit returned to Atlanta on Nov. 11 commemorating every facet of the Black experience with a special emphasis on Zillenials. The event highlighted individuals in their 'Era of Disruption' who are actively challenging conventions and pushing boundaries.

Rechelle Dennis, the Co-Founder and Lead of Girls United, set the stage for the festivities by extending a warm welcome to summit attendees.

This included a panel discussion featuring the sister-duo Jordyn and Jodie Woods, who shared insights into their collaborative efforts in elevating their business.

The event also featured a live taping with the season 5 cast of 'If Not for My Girls,' featuring BIA, Muni Long, and Pretty Vee, as well as a session delving into fashion and creativity with designers Aleali May and Torianna Breaux.

The event showcased captivating stage appearances from notable figures such as internet sensation Aliyah’s Interlude, comedian Yung BBQ, and celebrity music engineer Brandra Ringo.

It also presented engaging program highlights like 'Disrupt or Be Disrupted' featuring Essence Ventures President & CEO Caroline Wanga and 'On Strike' by McDonald’s with Kenyatta Victoria, Marley Dias, J. Simmone, and Kamarie Brown.

Throughout the day, attendees participated in interactive activities, including speed mentorship sessions, a tooth gem station, a photo activation sponsored by Coca-Cola® Zero Sugar, airbrush tattoos, and more. The Soko Marketplace provided an opportunity for guests to shop and support a variety of Black-owned businesses.

Closing out the day, Mariah The Scientist graced the stage, delivering standout performances of her top hits, including the fan favorite "Spread Thin.”
